Bespoke Embroidery For Core by Clare Smyth

This elegant copper vine is a very special hand embroidered creation to adorn the walls of Core by Clare Smyth - a Michelin three star fine dining restaurant in London’s Notting Hill.

Created in my studio in the summer of 2023, the delicate metal embroideries are worked on white Belgian linen and span almost 17 meters as the art piece flows around the walls of dining space.

At the heart of this commission was the challenge of bringing to life the vine featured on Core’s logo, incorporating intricate flower and leaf details to the twists and turns of the design.

Working closely with the interior design practice Fabled Studio, I created a refined, contemporary response to the design with a modern take on the craft of goldwork embroidery, exploring how best to capture the play of light across the copper and celebrate the natural, flowing qualities of these beautiful bespoke threads.
